meet dear prudence vintage

When you awake.com is a rad website about all things country, indie and folk. It's mostly about music but also includes style features.

Jody at When you Awake.com asked me some questions about the shop

What is your store called?
Dear Prudence Vintage

How long have you been doing it/what inspired you to start the store?
I have been doing it for about 6 months now. I have always loved old clothes and thrift shopping and thought selling online was something I might like to do. I was inspired initially by some cute shops on Ebay but then I discovered Etsy which is more of an online community and decided to sell there.

What’s your favorite product that you are currently selling?
A 70s black silk jersey dress with layered pointed hems. It’s so gypsy Stevie Nicks.

How has living in Los Angeles inspired your store/style?
I’m fascinated by the history and the present day of Los Angeles. There are so many creative people living here that inspire me everyday.

Has has music inspired what you do?
Music and personal style seem to go hand in hand. A lot of musicians wear some vintage clothing because they are inspired by some musicians’ style from the past or because they want a unique authentic piece of clothing that expresses some part of them.

Who is your musical style icon?
So hard to pick just one I have so many! …early Patti Smith or 60s Marianne Faithfull.

What’s your go to pick me up/get the party started song?
Neil young is always a personal pick me up

Teresa Sotomayor will be selling select vintage pieces at the Free For All Festival. Make sure you bring cash and stop by her booth! You can also check her out online at Etsy.com. Click here to visit the store.
